The Richmond Football Club Board say they’re extremely confident they’ll make the wrong decision in the next few weeks, over the future of senior coach Damien Hardwick.
“We know the Richmond faithful have enormous faith in us getting this wrong,” said Richmond President Peggy O'Neal.
“Richmond has a proud history of shooting itself in the foot and I’m positive that whatever is the right thing to do in this situation, we will do the polar opposite.”
Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said at this stage he wasn’t sure if keeping Hardwick and turning over the playing list, or sacking Hardwick immediately, was the right thing to do.
“At Richmond, we don’t just guess at what might be the wrong decision. We’re going to spend a lot of money and time figuring it out.”
Damien Hardwick said he felt conflicted as he wants to stay but knows if the Richmond Board decide to keep him, it will be the wrong thing to do.
“It’s a weird position to be in. By keeping me on, I know it means everything is just going to get a lot worse but if they let me go it will get worse too.”
Former coach Terry Wallace said he’s hopeful of a return to Punt Road.
“Given Richmond’s decision making process, I’d be a good chance. I’ve had my PowerPoint presentation redesigned and everything.”
The Board also announced they won’t be limiting their bad decision making to just the senior coaching position.
“There are so many things we can get wrong. Why paint yourself into just one wrong box?’ said Ms O'Neal.

As a proud Richmond member, I've been genuinely upset about this entire 2014 saga. TO'R, I thank you for allowing me to find a way to laugh at it... never thought one would or could. Cheers, Charlie.
