The pros and cons of a James Hird High Court challenge

Despite losing his appeal in the Federal Court, James Hird has not ruled out a High Court challenge.

Here we look at the pros and cons of him appealing to the High Court.

Cons

  • Expensive
  • No chance of winning
  • It will be embarrassing
  • Everyone else wants him to stop, including the players
  • Did I mention it’s really expensive?
  • Even I think this is a bad idea and this has given me more material than I could have ever dreamed of
  • The High Court is in Canberra
  • Distracts from Essendon’s season
  • How good do you want to make Justice Middleton look?
  • It’s beyond crazy
  • Even if he wins, ASADA just restart the process
  • The board can’t sack him while his appeal is on foot
  • The amount of The Castle memes it will generate is beyond comprehension

Pros

  • Nil
  • Seriously, there are none
  • It’s just bonkers on every level
  • He can't really be considering it, can he?
  • You're right, he did appeal the Federal Court decision and that was looney tunes
  • These aren't really pros are they?
  • They just looked so sparse compared to the cons
  • I'll stop now

Prediction

On current form, he’s totally going to appeal.

Essendon wants it to go away. Hird wants it to go to the High Court of Australia. "We are this close" to being on the same page says Essendon spokesman Maxwell Smart while gesturing with his thumb and forefinger.

Dear Mr O'Reily
Does Mr Hird really believe in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus too? If he does then we should tell him the Easter Bunny is coming soon and he will be so happy.

of course hird will fight it because if he doesn't and is subsequently found guilty then Essendon FC can terminate his contract without any compensation and would then find employment very difficult,,,,it's all about the money,money....
