North Melbourne have offered every AFL player coming out of contract at the end of the season, a substantial deal

It’s understood the move is part of the Kangaroos’ new ‘shotgun’ approach to recruiting.

North Melbourne General Manger Football Cameron Joyce said this year, the club was not going to miss out on signing big free agents.

“Sometimes life is about plucking up the courage to ask. To forget all the times you’ve asked a top player to join and they’ve laughed, before saying something about it being them not us.”

“Every no is a rung in the ladder to a yes. We’re operating with the belief that they can’t all say no. Oh my god, what if they did? That would be awful. We’d be crushed.”

Some commentators have said the new shotgun approach was ‘a breathtakingly stupid idea.’

“You know, Gene Simmons of KISS once said, ‘There are many really stupid ideas that wind up being brilliant if you can implement them.’”

“I like to think we can be a club that can implement those really stupid ideas.”
