Names on Jumpers will Destroy AFL, World

The recent announcement that player names will be on jumpers for part of the season is the worst thing that has ever happened.

It will destroy football, breakup families and be directly responsible for millions of deaths.

It's that serious.

Why? You may ask.

It’s a good question, well put.

I don’t really have an ‘answer’ as such but I do have lots of emotions and a strong opinion.

Simply, I don’t like change, even if it’s for the better. What has change ever bought us that’s good? Nothing at all, if I don’t think about it.

In my day, not knowing players names was a point of pride. Players needed to play for many ski seasons before I got to know them.

I've only now stopped yelling out 'catch the football number 9' and now cheer 'go Neitz,' when I see a brief highlight, if the news is on at the bar at Mt Buller.

The only way to react to this news is extreme hysteria. This is not the time for cool heads and rational debates.

'They' are destroying football again.

They've tried to destroy it before through flooding, the slide rule, an interchange cap, night games, the interpretation of the hands in the back rule and Brian Taylor’s commentary.

It is now obvious that the AFL are ruining football. If you look beyond the massive TV audiences, the huge crowds, the wall-to-wall media coverage, an improving standard of play and professionalism and record TV and sponsorship revenue, the game is being run into the ground.

Just look at how many players have been convicted for taking drugs in the last twelve month alone.

It is obvious, names on jumpers are the final hands in the camel’s back.
