Mick Malthouse rings Cameron Ling to apologise
After a bit of a misunderstanding on Saturday night, Mick Malthouse gives Cameron Ling a call to apologise.
Mick Malthouse: Cameron, Mick Malthouse here.
Cameron Ling: I was wondering if you’d call.
Malthouse: Things got a little out of hand Saturday night. A lot of feelings.
Ling: Yeah, it did Mick.
Malthouse: I probably said some things I didn’t mean. It was the emotion of the evening.
Ling: Fair enough Mick. I probably did the wrong thing by standing there doing my job and not bothering you.
Malthouse: Well, I just want you to know it wasn’t because you’re a redhead.
Ling: Sorry?
Malthouse: You being a redhead. It’s not like I think that’s bad luck or anything. I mean, I wouldn’t want to take you sailing or anything, but I don’t think you’re the devil incarnate or anything like that.
Ling: Mick, that’s just superstitious nonsense. Did you think I was bad luck for Geelong during the 2011 Grand Final?
Malthouse: I guess not. Look Lingy, I’m just a bit sensitive at the moment, with the whole having to coach Carlton and everything.
Ling: I understand. It can’t be easy.
Malthouse: It makes working for Eddie seem appealing.
Ling: Steady on Mick, I know things are tough, but it’s not that bad.
Malthouse: That’s true. Got to keep these things in perspective, I suppose. Anyway, I apologise for being grumpy. You know it’s out of character.
Ling: Sure Mick. Thanks for the call, apart from the redhead bit. I better run, BT just walked back into the office and I want to slip out before he sees me.
