Jobe Watson issues unconditional apology for wearing double denim

Yesterday, I appeared on national television wearing double denim.

What's worse is the shirt had this weird two breast pockets thing going on and some weird panelling.

While I'm still piecing together the events of yesterday and how I came to be wearing it, I would still like to offer a full and unconditional apology.

I know that as a role model, the decisions I make have an impact on others and the thought that my wearing of double denim could lead to others doing it greatly upsets me.

Let me be very clear, double denim is a gateway fashion trend that can lead to rhinestones and cowboy hats.

That's why today, I'm launching the 'Don't do Double Denim' campaign in partnership with the Victorian and Federal Governments.

This is a bipartisan campaign and one I'm proud to lead.

From Sunday, a nationwide television ad campaign will highlight the dangers of wearing double denim and encourage Australians to step in if they see a mate wearing it.

The only people who have any right to wearing double denim are Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears and only in 2001 at an awards ceremony.

Double denim is a serious issue and does not only affect high profile athletes. It is currently rife across Australia, particularly in rural areas.

Much like measles, it is making a comeback despite us wiping it out once.

So join me.

Let's warn others about the dangers of double denim and together stop this terrible affliction.

Remember 'Don't do Double Denim'.

Why was Tom Bellchambers wearing a neat little Gentleman's trench coat on a 28 degree day as well?

Personally I was struck by the preponderance of grey worn at the press conference. Appropriate as the so called "blackest day in Australian sport" fades away to that shade.
