Bryce Gibbs explains what he wants from Carlton

Dear Carlton Members

You may have seen an article this morning about me weighing up my future at Carlton.

The article suggested I wanted to know more about Carlton’s long-term direction, premiership window and list management before I re-signed.

This article is not entirely true and could be accurately construed as me being unhappy with the calibre of my teammates.

Any disharmony this article creates could greatly hinder our chances of nailing down ninth or tenth spot this year.

Therefore, I want to set the record straight.

Let me be very clear, I am mostly interested in the amount of money I get, not these other things.

Money is terrific. It can be exchanged for all sorts of goods and services.

It’s what makes life worth living and helps others know how important you are.

My next deal could be worth over $600,000 a season. That’s amazing!

If you chatted with me for a while and didn't know what I did for a job, you would never guess I could earn that much.

Now, as to the long-term direction of Carlton and its list management, you don’t need to be staring down the barrel of five-to-six more years here, to be a bit concerned.

When I’m out there playing, I often think ‘we are terrible’ and a part of me just gives up. It’s usually the footballing part of me.

If I can get the same amount of money or even more from a great team, how amazing would that be? It’s like every Christmas coming all at once. I’d be silly not to do that right?

I hope this clarifies everything in this morning’s article and all you passionate Carlton fans can get behind the Mighty Blues again!

Go Blues!

Bryce Gibbs
