Brendon Goddard: If it’s Kool-Aid, make mine a double

In Taylor Swift's recent song about James Hird, she sings:

Cause the players gonna play, play, play

And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate

Taylor is obviously referring to the fact that while we at the Essendon are only focused on the game, the media, ASADA and opposition fans are only interested in hating.

I'm less sure what Taylor means when she sings:

My ex man brought his new girlfriend

She's like oh my god

Of course the reference to the ‘the fella over there with the hella good hair’ obviously can’t be about Hird and I’m quietly confident it’s about me.

The fact the biggest selling artist in the world at the moment wrote a song about James Hird, doesn’t surprise me at all.

As I keep saying to the boys, when we come out of this and we win a Grand Final, they will make a movie and write books about us.

I also tell the boys that I believe James has cracked the cure for cancer and invented a perpetual motion machine.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying James is some sort of 'Christ-like' figure, Jesus let himself be sacrificed.

All I'm saying is James is the greatest person who has ever lived. A man whose only crime was to be involved in a poorly run supplements program experimenting on young men.

By the time James is done, there will be books, songs, movies, a theme park ride, a Chanel Nine mini-series that no one will watch, numerous statues, a themed restaurant, a fast-food chain tie in and a religion dedicated to him.

I often get asked, why do you defend him so much?

Well, people who know me know one thing; I’m fiercely loyal to whoever is paying me a lot of money at the time.

If that seems like I’m drinking the Kool-Aid, then make mine a double, especially if you’re paying.

Regards

Brendon Goddard
