Brad Scott explains North Melbourne’s fluctuating form

Dear North Melbourne Members

I know many of you are at a loss as to how we can win in Fremantle one week and then lose the next at home to the Suns.

Well, join the club because I have no idea. None at all.

It’s not the even the roof this time.

I’m sure many of you are thinking, ‘hey this guy is being paid money to have these answers.’

Well, I’m afraid I've got no idea. At least give me credit for being so open about it.

You see, I’m trying everything here. I’m holding regular training sessions, I know every player by their first name and I can really handle a magnetic whiteboard.

Somehow this only works some of the time.

Yesterday, I kept telling the players, ‘someone needs to stop that Gary Ablett guy.’ I must have said it twenty times. Unfortunately he just kept getting the ball and kicking goals.

I spoke to my brother Chris after the game and he said I should have identified a specific player to do that but that’s a level of micromanaging I don’t feel comfortable with.

It’s all very well for Chris to say that anyway. A trained monkey could coach Geelong.

I’m getting a bit concerned about this season. I’m even considering getting all the players to tweet #United ahead of our next game. I hear that works briefly.

Anyway, I want you to know that despite not having a clue what the problem is, I’m working on it.

I’m pretty sure if I work out the problem, then I can then start figuring out a solution. Let’s hope that’s right. Fingers crossed!

I hope this gives you some confidence for the rest of the season.

All the best

Brad Scott
