AFL Round Six Fun Facts

Can you believe we’re already in round 6? You can? Is that because the season now seems to go on all year?

Anyway, here are some fun facts you may not know for Round Six.

  • The Anzac Day clash is the holiest day on the calendar for Essendon and Collingwood supporters. It’s even ahead of James Hird's crucifixion and the festival of Nathan Buckley's journey from Brisbane.
  • Tickets to the Essendon/Collingwood Anzac Day clash begin at $30,000 for newborns.
  • The AFL is paying New Zealanders to attend the St Kilda/Brisbane Anzac Day game in Wellington.
  • New Zealanders will receive $10 Australian to attend. This is equivalent to the average New Zealand annual salary.
  • Patterson Stadium will be serving hot chips in a replica 'Colin Sylvia basket' at Fremantle's game against the Kangaroos.
  • The Giants vs Suns game has the highest level of young AFL talent ever assembled. Dozens of people are expected to watch it.
  • If Carlton beat West Coast they will be 'back on track', if they lose they will be 'in crisis.'
  • Buddy Franklin will catch a tram to the MCG for the game against Melbourne. He will not be able to drive the tram. The Tram will sideswipe 47 cars and another tram.
  • Richmond are praying for a Carlton loss.
  • The Western Bulldogs are planning to tag Patrick Dangerfield with 7 players. All at once.
  • The AFL have scheduled the Port v Geelong game at 4.40pm on a Sunday because they don't know what they're doing.
