The AFL Makes a Statement on Essendon Drug Scandal

The AFL has become aware that not making a statement about Jobe Watson’s admission on Fox Footy that he took a banned substance, was being criticised.

Keen to rectify this situation, we got AFL general manager of football operations Mark Evans to vaguely suggest premiership points could be taken away.

Really, he just said it’s in the ‘scope of the AFL Commission’ but that depends on a lot of things occurring.

ASADA doing something would be a good start.

You see, we’ve had no real idea what to say. With Andrew away on holidays, we’ve all been having a bit of a rest. Coming in a bit late, leaving a bit early, you know how it goes.

Had a few great lunches too. A few where we didn’t make it back to work.

Then Jobe Watson goes and announces he took AOD-9604 on Fox Footy. Just straight up admits it! Why would you do that? This honesty stuff is a bit misplaced, surely?

A lot of us in here just couldn’t believe this was happening while Andrew was away. We had everything sorted. One game of indoor cricket went for five days. It was great. Although there were some concerns one of our official betting partners may have fixed it.

Now, we’ve got everyone wondering why we’re not saying anything.

What are we going to say?

Even with Jobe coming out and admitting to it, ASADA has still done nothing.

How long does it take to work out what’s illegal and what’s not?

Peter Jackson will have sacked everyone working at Melbourne by the time ASADA does something.

Maybe we should just say, ‘Due to ASADA moving slower than Sam Kekovich after a good lunch and more lawyers involved than a Royal Commission, we’ve decided to just stay quiet. It’s much easier even if it does annoy Mick Malthouse.’

Makes sense doesn’t it?

I mean, this stuff is really hard. Just thinking about it makes our heads hurt. All this science and medicine talk.

Anyway, we’ve got the second indoor test starting. Got to finish it before the D-Train gets back.

Let us know if ASADA does anything, ok?
