A Perth business is attracting national media after the boss gave almost half his staff a week off and sent the others to work in Adelaide.
An employee who asked to remain anonymous said those missing out on the week off are ‘more than a little upset’.
“Imagine you’re at work and the boss gives eleven blokes a day off and not you?”
“He then says he’s resting the really good workers because we have a big month coming up. What does that make the rest of us?
“This is worse than the time they stopped providing free bikkies for the tea break.”
Another employee said he was ‘shattered to miss out on a day off’ as they’d hoped to go see that ‘NWA movie’ which looks ‘pretty good’.
“I’ve got a Gold Class voucher someone gave me and it’s about to expire. Of course I wasn’t born when NWA where around but I love the headphones Dr Dre makes.”
“I guess we all knew the boss had favourites but it’s pretty harsh to see them all so blatantly looked after.”
“He’s normally a good guy our boss. He got us to be the second best business in the country once and done that elsewhere a couple of times, so I guess we just have to accept it.”
One employee who has to work says travelling to Adelaide is a ‘bit of a pain’.
“Why do I have to get on a plane just to go to a meeting that means nothing? It’s a pointless meeting that’s been in the diary since 2014. Someone must have forgotten to cancel it.”
“Still, I guess going to pointless meetings is ninety-five per cent of most people’s work.”
There’s now fears the practice could spread, with a North Melbourne business announcing it would also give some staff a day off and send work experience kids to an important meeting in their stead.
